Class Description:

Dancing in Character is a fun exploration of the elements of developing characterization through movement and dance choreography with a focus on integrating into burlesque performance. Students learn a set choreography, and layer on three distinct characters to see how subtle changes in movement can communicate big shifts in character to an audience. Students will learn the concepts of character intention and tactic, as well as Lady Jack’s three elements of character base: Stature, Strut and Gesture and how to pull those elements through all your movement. Lady Jack’s physical theatre and dance work has appeared in events such as TEDx Midwest, The Chicago Innovation Awards, and Sing featuring Elton John.
