We love this gem from the Gem State: Mimi MaShuga is our National Treasure for Idaho. Formerly Ms. Gay Idaho, MaShuga is the femcee and one of the founding members of Boise’s Hot Mess Burlesque, a neo-burlesque troupe that keeps it funny and outrageous. The troupe keeps it outrageous, shaking it and stripping at a wide array of events such as Burlycon, the nation’s only burlesque conference, and benefits all over the second most conservative state in the U.S. Hot Mess Burlesque’s own shows include live singing and drama as well as dancing, and the quick-witted as well as statuesque MaShuga leads audiences in things like an adult-themed audience participation spelling bee. She became engaged at 2012’s Burlesque Hall of Fame to her girlfriend Shuga Pimp, and the two married this past weekend in Idaho. Congratulations from Red Hots Burlesque!
