Red Hots Burlesque’s National Treasure: Torchy Taboo
TORCHY TABOO
GEORGIA
A self-confessed Blanche Dubois living a Mata Hari delusion, Torchy Taboo represents Georgia as our National Treasure. With more than 20 years of burlesque experience, legend of burlesque Torchy Taboo combines jazz and Eastern dance as well as classic burlesque in her sizzling performances. A high school boyfriend told her once that she was “too scrawny” to ever be a stripper, but Torchy Taboo went on to have success in Southern strip clubs for more than a decade before trading it in for a bright red Betty Page hairstyle and indulging her lifelong fantasies at the forefront of the burlesque revival. Torchy Taboo also plays with fire, heating up and hypnotizing the deep South with her fire play as well as her elaborate costumes. This Tigress of Tease has performed at a number of burlesque festivals including the Burlesque Hall of Fame and Tease-O-Rama, and has founded Dames Aflame and the Taboo Revue. She has also taught burlesque for more than 15 years.
